Our school will be undergoing some major changes in the way our lunch is served next year. To prepare for this change, my students are going to produce a how-to video on proper lunch routines. All students will need to view this to help with the confusion that will be caused by using a new card system. It will also be used to show the kindergarten students how to use the lunch room properly because they have never done it before. We will use the flip videos to record our different sections of the how-to video. The students will be broken up into small groups to work on their small parts. Each group will be in charge of properly showing one part of the routine. They will explain one the video how to do certain tasks and then show how it is done by demonstrating the proper technique. It will be put into some type of video editing software (such as Windows Moviemaker) and produced onto a DVD for all classrooms to watch. I am very excited about this lesson because it puts writing and reading into a real-life situation for my students. They will take ownership in helping others and will produce a great video because of it!
Follow-Up
Showing the video to the entire student body as well as the administration. Asking for feedback as to if the video helped or not.
