Rube Goldberg Seminar with Mrs. Lewis Page Views: 658
|
Rueben Goldberg was born on July 4, 1883. By the end of his lifetime in December 7, 1970, he was known as an inventor, sculptor, author, and engineer. Mr. Goldberg was fascinated by the advancement of technology, as many of us are today. He is most famous for his cartoons, which depict inventions that complete simple tasks but require many complex steps. Mrs. Lewis, an 8th grade science teacher here at Royal Oak Middle School (Michigan), teaches a seminar at ROMS on Rube Goldberg style cartoons. Students design and construct a contraption using at least 3 simple machines and 5 conversions of energy to complete a particular task. See the website listed below with the results of the students' inventions.

Please view the mini clips students filmed of their simple machine contraptions.
These mini video clips were taken with a Flip Camera (1 hour). The files were converted from MP4 to .WMV (filewiggle.com) and then the clips were made in MS Movie Maker.
