The teacher will use varying technology, methodology and classroom activities throughout the semester to facilitate student learning of the following German historical eras: German Tribes and their migration, the Middle Ages, the Black Plague and Martin Luther's Reformation, World War I, Post WW1, the Treaty of Versailles and Reparations, the Berlin Airlift, the Cold War and the Berlin Wall, the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the modern Unification of Germany.

As the culmination of lessons on these various eras of German history the students will develop an historical music video for assessment of their gained knowlege in German and history.

The students will:

*Choose an event in history (not related to the Holocaust)
*Choose a musical piece
*Develop a song in English to depict the chosen event
*Create a complete video script/storyboard in German -“actor”/camera positions, prop usage, etc.
*Utilize props and images
*Write and include an oral introduction to and interpretation of your music video in German (at least 2 paragraphs of 8 sentences each).
*Complete the performance of the “Music Video” on tape, disc, digital file or live
*Present “Music Video” on final exam day

The optimum presentation will include the following:

German Grammar:
High degree of subject verb agreement – few
word order mistakes – usage matches
students’ level of learning – Verb
tense/usage is appropriate (eg: imperfekt).

Vocabulary:
uses required historical vocabulary learned throughout the semester and
Incorporates a variety of old vocabulary

Pronunciation:
The student speaks clearly and imitates
accurate pronunciation of German

Students will be evaluated using the AHS World Language Presentational Rubric

Comments
Students will utilize the materials, tools and knowlege they acquired throughout the learning experience of the semester to develop a culminating project.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Students may also utilize their knowlege and music video creation in World History and broadcasting courses.
Follow-Up
Videos may be shared with the school community via the classroom website and the school's daily news broadcast.
