Planned By: Kristie Peters
Original Author: Kristie Peters, Highlands Ran
This project will have to be completed toward the end of the school year. As a class, we have created a strong community of readers through our interactive read alouds and we are excited to share our reading with others. Here is how I would implement the project:
1. List all books read aloud this school year.
2. Assign each group of 2-3 kids one book to recommend.
3. Discuss potential audience to this project: Teachers, students, parents, anyone who is on the internet who is looking for an electrifying book to read!
4. Discuss collaboration for project completion. Each video needs to have:
a. A summary of the book
b. A well-reasoned position as to why other readers would enjoy this book
c. Each students’ favorite part and why he/she liked that part
d. At least 4 critical thinking questions to consider when the book is completed.
5. Allow students time to write and collaborate on the script. They will need to figure out who is saying what, when!
6. Discuss the artwork for background and give students time to create it. The background needs to show the title, author, and a “snapshot” from the book.
7. Provide instruction and practice on public speaking skills.
8. Have recording day!
9. Post and share with the class
