ISTE Standards Met: 1,2,3,4,and 6

Objective:
The students will learn to use the flip cameras from the multi media students. The History students will take footage, the students will be able to use the camera to interview at a World War II mock press conference. The Multi Media students will upload video, work with video, and make a final cut out of it. The students will be able to work in combined groups from both classes.

Procedure:

1st class period - The Multi Media Students will go into the History class to introduce the flip cams.

2nd class period - The students in the History class will have already done their research, on the questions, regarding the historical figure and the subject matter. The students will then proceed to ask the questions in a mock press conference setting, as if it were in current times.

3rd and 4th class period - The groups will be put together with Multi Media students to upload footage for their fictitious newa network. The students will work the video into Imovie and cut the footage to create the final cut.

Evaluation:
The students will be evaluated on their understanding of the steps during class. The students will be graded on the final project by the rubric they are given.

Tools: Desktop PC’s (research) and Flip Cameras

Comments
We want to do more projects like this but our 4 flip cameras are seperated throughout the building. A large bundle like this would be a blessing as it would lend itself to larger projects cross curriculum.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This lesson shows how powerful cross curriculum can be! A History class and a multimedia class working together to film a news conference of the great figures of World War II. Then go to the lab and as a news crew would create the final footage.
Follow-Up
More cross curricular ideas once this is put on display for other content area teachers to see! Thank you for your time!
