I work with Pre-K through 12th grade. So, if I received the 10 free cameras, there would be many classrooms that would benefit. Here are some short lesson plans that I would use for each category:
Kindergarten through 2nd grade – I would give the students the cameras, and they would search the school for various shapes, and different colors of the day. We would put the movies together, and run them on the netbooks and SMARTboard for review.
3rd grade through 5th grade - Students in this grade must know famous Americans and famous Virginians. Half the class would dress up like these true American Idols, and the other half would dress up as a Newscaster, or Interviewer. The “Newscaster” would interview the famous American or Virginian – who would be in character. The movies would be shown to the class for review, and could be used in future years for an introduction to the lessons given.
6th grade through 8th grade – All of these students write book reports, but I think it would be unique if they would make a Book Commercial – to “sell” their book to others.
9th grade through 12th grade – Music Videos abound for this age group, but I would like to see them apply a music video to a subject they are learning…for example – make a music video about the “joys” of studying Calculus, or Biology. |

Comments |
We have most of the additional materials that would need to used for my lessons. If not, perhaps I could find someone who would donate what we don't have.
And I know I checked many subjects in the lesson plan section, but creativity abounds in my schools. I'm sure the students would come up with more innovative ideas on how to use the cameras once they had them. |
Cross-Curriculum Ideas |
My lesson plan ties into cross curriulum ideas, and the final movies could be shown to other schools, in hopes they would like to make a movie, too. |
Follow-Up |
I would like to present the movies at our School Board Meeting, at Faculty meetings, and to each schools PTO meetings. I would also try and present at the VSTE conference in November 2011. |
