Reading Intervention Pullout:
Title I students will tape themselves reading, and then use a checklist to critique their own fluency. The teacher will model fluent reading during several lessons. Students will then use flip cameras to tape themselves and then critique what they need to work on to become fluent readers. The teacher will help them critique during the first few tapings, but then the students will assume responsability for their own advancement in fluency. Tapings will be saved, and then compared after several weeks. The teacher and student will view the tapings together and conference on what changes have occurred and set new goals based on his/her tapings.

I believe seeing / hearing makes all the difference in becoming a fluent reader. When students can hear themselves read and see the changes in their reading, then making the changes in fluency becomes concrete. Students are not always able to hear their own fluency because they are concentrating on reading. Using a flip camera will allow them the second look into their reading that they need in order to grow as readers.
