Introduction of the concept.
Children will be given a paper plate to decorate as if it were a complete any flavor pizza. Aftrer they are done, they will fold their pizza (plate) in two sections and will say what every part is called: a halve. They will say how many halves every one has, then they will write " This is a half of pizza"on every half .Later they will describe it saying to their partners as much as they can about it , including how much it was.
They will have 2 minutes to do accountable talk with their classmates about what a half is. After they are done, they will sit in front of the interactive board and will be guided on how to get a halve circle from the shared resources, and all the steps to make a whole circle using the tools from the Promethean(interactive board). Then they have to continue following the steps to make a whole based on their previous knowledge.
1.Drag a halve circle from the file 2.Copy the have to get a duplicate 3. Use the rotation tool to place the copy correctly with the other 4. Use the grouping tool to paste the two halves. 5. Change the size of the whole circle 6. Write the sentence "This is a Whole".
After all students are done, they will get a plastic lead with the shape of a circle and have them tracing it then decorate it as a person's or character face.
At the end you can have a meeting with the class to review their feelings on this activity. |
