1. Brainstorm why smoking is bad (should be review from prior years of health instruction).
2. Discuss what is influencing young people to start smoking.
3. Watch examples of PSA's on a variety of subjects.
4. Spend one class researching information on smoking.
5 In groups of 3, brainstorm ideas to influence 5-8 grade students not to smoke.
6. Group picks one idea.
7. Each group presents their idea to the teacher for approval to continue.
8. Create a storyboard for making the PSA.
9. Get feedback from one other group on their storyboard design.
10. Shoot their video using the Flip cameras!!
11. Edit the video using the software.
12. Invite the 5/6 Principal and the 7/8 Principal to the class to preview the PSA's.
13. Edit any recommended changes.
14. Play the PSA's for the 5/6 students and 7/8 students.
15. Survey the students for feedback on the PSA's.
