VIII. Specific Lesson Plans for Tuesday, March 1, 2011 (Periods 7-9)
(Where does this lesson occur in the unit? Which objectives/standards will be involved? Outline
the lesson using time-frames, what will be done by instructor and students, and type of physical
grouping arrangement.)

 Today’s lesson occurs under the informational and assessment/evaluation phases of this unit.
 Objectives/Standards: (Students will . . .)
o Evaluate observations and identify reasons for any possible discrepancies (anomalies).
o Use evidence and observations to explain and communicate the results of investigations.
o Explain why results of an experiment (test) might be different than that for which was hoped.
o Modify initial conclusions; propose and justify new interpretations and predictions as additional data are collected.
o List and explain all possible outcomes in a given situation. (Engineering Data Logs)
o Compare what should happen (expected results) with what did happen (actual results) in an experiment (as they apply to Scientific Inquiry with testing each phase during rocketry flight).

 Lesson Outline:
o Instructional Space Physical Setting: There will be 12 cognitively identified gifted students participating (5 males; 7 females) / Instructional setting is located in room G169 (GT room, former science lab)

o Participating Students (Grade 6, Group B)
 (Purposely not published)

o Time Frame: Approximately three class periods (7-9)
