Planned By: Amy Mallory |
Original Author: Amy Mallory, Latrobe |
1) Each student/group of students will be assigned a single algebra problem to work on that is part of a larger assignment. They will solve the problem on a whiteboard and write out their solution.
2) They will video both the written and verbal components of their solutions. Their explanations should be detailed enough that another student viewing the video will be able understand and follow.
3) The videos will then be uploaded to a site where students can view and comment on each other’s work.
4) In order to complete the assignment each problem will be part of a scavenger hunt where students must collect pieces of information from other videos to complete their own work. Students will view the other videos from their classmates and collect necessary information to complete their portion of the scavenger hunt.
5) This scavenger hunt will serve as a cumulative review for an upcoming test. By completing the scavenger hunt students will have viewed and worked through all problems applicable to the upcoming test. This same style of Flip Video use can be implemented in any curriculum to suit the particular needs of the course. |
