Students will discuss cell parts of a Eukaryotic cell structure Students will Cell Membrane, Nucleus, nuclear membrane, Lymsomes, gogli apparatus; ribosmomes; Cytoplasm; smooth endoplasmic reticulum; rough Endoplasmic reticulum; Mitochondria. Students will be interviewing new factory in their town they will create an analogous script about a factory. Student will be divided in groups of four and will create a puppet show video introducing cell parts of their factory as they are being interviewed by ScELL TV news. Student will pick a factory (ex. cheese factory) they will make analogy to each cell part in an analogy cell membrane - wall of outside of factory and security guard - will not allow people in or out without permission. Mr. Mitch Mitochondria My job is to keep people out of our factory we make cheese and we have many super secret recipes. My job is to make sure if you are not suppose to be here I will not let you in.
Nucleus - the boss of our factory Mrs. Nancy Nuclueus. Hello welcome to my factory I am in charge of making cheese. I have all the secrets hidden away in my office. I am in charge of all the worker here.
Lysomes: Is like the janitor who get rid of the waste in the factory Mr. Lye Lysome My job is easy to get rid of all the waste I am the recycle the waste engineer.
Ribosome: Ms. Roberta Ribosome; my job is make cheese I make all sorts of cheese. Blue cheese, cheddar, colbyjack
Endoplasmic Reticulum: Rough ER I am Ralph Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum: I make the packages to go to the conveyor belt my cousin Sammy Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum runs the conveyor belt. She is in charge of moving the packages of cheese. She's over there you can help her move so cheese.
This is done with all cell parts and they video using flip cameras and then they edit and create a jingle using garage band the jingle tells about the factory. Students rate themselves on a class created rubric all students in group must participate. |

This was my students favorite activity last year. Our only issues are we do not have enough flip camera's available to do project, I have placed my name on wait list and still have not gotten enough to video kids projects. We tried to check out from our district instructional media center, but camera are used so often they are not available to us. |
