This lesson would be used to complete our unit on Earth's Land Resources in Science.
Objective-Students will understand the importance of our natural resources and their responsibility to help conserve those resources.
Day 1-Discuss public service announcements with the class. Show examples of public service announcements that can be found on YouTube. Be sure to preview them before you show them! Discuss the qualities of PSA's. The message should be clear and should only be 30 seconds to a minute in length. Include facts to help support the message.
Day 2-Divide the class into groups. One member of each group should be responsible for taping the Public Service Announcement. Each group should brainstorm ideas for their PSA. They may begin researching for facts if they have time.
Days 3 and 4-Groups should continue to research facts, plan, write, and then type their public service announcements.
Day 5-Groups should practice their PSA's.
Day 6-Tape the public service announcements. |
|
Comments |
Be sure to encourage taping in different areas. Some groups may want to tape outdoors. It helps to have extra adults to accompany groups when they want to practice or tape. |
Cross-Curriculum Ideas |
The publice service announcements could be tied to different sections of the United States to discuss conserving the natural resources in those areas. |
Follow-Up |
Have the students watch and critique their videos to help with future tapings. The videos could be shared with other classes. |
