IACS recently acquired a classroom set of Mac computers. Included on those computers in the software for iMovie. With a classroom set of 10 cameras students can film narration and re-enactments in ancient history to create documentaries.

1. Technology component - Teach and review the basic use of iMovie. If needed bring in Peppershock Media Productions, a locally based company that produces documentaries, commercials, and media.

2. Research ancient history topic with attention given to using primary and secondary sources.

3. Script writing for the narration of the movie.

4. Storyboarding for the video, audio, and photo inclusion in their movie.

5. Re-enactment of historical events as a component of the movie

The final documentary can be used school-wide to teach younger children, as well as be presented at the IACS History Day. Students can also use documentaries to compete in the state history day competition with the potential to continue on the National History Day competition. (www.nationalhistoryday.org)

Follow-Up
