“Flip” the Table on Bullying

1. Grade One and Three teachers will meet to discuss developmental appropriate bullying topics for each grade level (see below).
2. Grade Three students will write short skits for each of the bullying topics.
3. First graders will act out the skits with the help of teachers and third graders.
4. Grade Three students will act as producers and facilitators during the Flip recording process.
5. Third Graders will edit the Flip movies with Microsoft Movie Maker. The computer teacher will help them add title, credits, and discussion questions to the video.
6. The music teacher will record various cues and sound effects to add pizzazz to the videos
7. Finally, the videos will be placed on our school’s virtual drive for all teachers to access. The videos will be shown in each classroom and discussed in depth. All teachers will receive a mini-lesson to accompany the video, along with follow-up activities to do with their class.
8. Teachers at each grade level will meet before and after viewing videos to discuss the effectiveness of the videos, as well as suggestions for future anti-bullying programs.
