Traveling Abroad to Dine!

The following lesson plan covers an entire unit, with the cumulative assessment being a digital video project. Students practice their parts for the final play and gather props to represent their roles. A green screen is used to allow for authentic backgrounds while the videotaping is done right in the World Language classroom! Students take a trip to a Spanish-speaking country (via internet) to visit a restaurant. My Maps (in Google) are used to decide as a class which country we would like to visit to eat in a restaurant. Students research which types of food are eaten in that country and print a menu for a specific restaurant. The students create the skit based on a template given by the teacher and incorporate the researched maps and foods of the city they have chosen to visit. A Google Map is used to create a walk about town and a visit to the restaurant. The class video is embedded in the map of the visit to the restaurant.
