Objective: Analyze EXPLORE test to see the possible careers available to research.

Task Focus—
• Ask Questions: Have any of you thought about your future careers?
What are some of the occupations that have crossed your minds?
Why is choosing a career so important?
Lesson Presentation—
Librarian and Guidance Counselor will explain that we will be reviewing the results of the EXPLORE tests that were taken at the beginning of the school year. By the time the students leave today, they will understand the information presented in the booklets. The librarian will explain how the information presented on the EXPLORE test will be used to create their research papers in the next couple of weeks. The librarian will then explain how it is important to always to well on any test that they are required to take because they never know when they will be require to use the information again.
The Guidance Counselor will also explain the sections of the EXPLORE tests and how it relates to their educational future and future career choices.

Guided Practices—
Part I—EXPLORE Worksheet
• Librarian will explain worksheet activity that students will be completing using their EXPLORE results.
• Librarian and students will complete the first question together.
Part II—Scatter Activity
• Librarian and students will complete the Kagan Strategy—Scatter. Students will read the information on the PowerPoint and decide if they belong in group A, B, C, D, or E for each question.
The purpose of the activity is to place students will similar career answers together at a table to c complete their career research assignment.

Independent Practices—
Part I--EXPLORE
• Students will complete the worksheet answering the EXPLORE test questions.
Part II—Career
• After students are seated at appropriate tables, they will research career topics using Career Encyclopedias

Closure—
• Before leaving class today, students will choose the career they would like to research in the next few weeks and write this career, along with their name, on an index card to be turned in before leaving the library today.
