Artists in Power Point Page Views: 218
|
Students are assigned an artist. If the artist is living, the teacher will contact them via email for permissions to use their art for the purpose stated (they usually love it!). The student will be responsible for creating a "cover page", including the artist's art as the background, a contrasting color for the font, and a picture of the artist. The second slide will include the artist's image again, and a brief bio (birth, death and where they lived and worked). The third slide will be a timeline of the artist, with all possible information included about his life, art, style, etc. The fourth slide will include one of the artist's first works and an interesting fact about it (i.e., where it's hanging now, how it became famous, anything the student finds interesting about it). The fifth and all subsequent slides will include a work of art and title. The final slide will include a scanned image of the students' recreation of art in the style of their artist (or of their most famous piece), labeled with their own name and title. Any inclusion of gif images available, animation in the presentation, or any other use of technologies to enhance the presentation will be greatly encouraged! This can be modified for special needs students, and used in any subject across the curriculum. |

Comments |
If a scanner isn't available, a digital camera can be used to capture the image of the students' recreation of the art. |
Cross-Curriculum Ideas |
This same idea can be used for any important person in history, or for any subject, in a different format, i.e., scientists, math pioneers, authors and poets, etc. |
Follow-Up |
Show the presentations in each class. Students get to show off their work and all students gain knowledge about numerous artists and their art. |
