Physical Education - Student Skill/Technique Self-evaluation Utilizing Video Feedback Page Views: 2582

1. As a class, student's will create a list of important elements of the skill/technique we are focusing on. For example, throwing technique may include stepping with the opposite foot, rotating their body, keeping their elbow up in an "L" position and following through in the direction of their target.
2. In pairs or small groups each student will utilize a flip camera to record the throwing technique of another student. In order to capture all elements, the video should include several different angles.
3. Once the video is complete, the students will replay and watch their own technique. Utilizing peer conferencing during playback, students will evaluate their technique looking carefully at each element. Students will discuss areas of strength and areas for improvement.
4. Once a student understands his/her strengths and areas for improvement, they will practice the skill focusing on what they learned from the video and peer conference. After sufficient practice, the student will go through the same process listed above. Once the student has a second video, not only will they be able to evaluate their skill again, they will be able to compare the second video with the first in order to see the changes they have made.
5. As a class, students are given time to share what they have learned about their technique and the elements they will focus on. |
