At the beginning of the school year in July 2011 (we are a year round school) students will be randomly assigned a specific state from across America. The student will then take that state and learn every detail he/she can throughout the next eighteen weeks through research. The student will then incorporate that knowledge he/she has learned into a vacation destination commercial. The student will be given the opportunity to act in front of a flip video and green screen. The student will also be given the opportunity to dress up and add props if so desired. The student will have a chance to create a skit to perform in front of the video persuading people that watch the video to come to his/her designated state. The student will be the expert on his/her state. These videos will be seen by the school population during morning announcements. The video will also be seen by all parents after the 18 weeks of education at a parent celebration.
This project was created for the Gifted Student Program. I am the teacher of the Gifted Student Program and have very little access to school technology. I have 80 students assigned to me in the Gifted Student Program. The students are from kinder through sixth grade. |
