Planned By: Heidi Hummel
Original Author: Heidi Hummel, West Valley
Materials:
* Curves/Straights, Big/Small pieces of foam or wood.
* Alphabet books, and charts
* Camera
1st. Read different alphabet books to students over the week.
2.Through discussion of the alphabet students will build letters based on if they have
'straight' or 'curved' features, with wood (or foam) pieces.
3. Next students will build the letters with their bodies, and have students take pictures of each other forming the different letters of the alphabet.
4. Develop and see if students can identify the different letters.
5. Have students help make an alphabet wall and/or alphabet book with their pictures.
Comments
Our class does not have a camera and I would like to document learning in a variety of ways.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Make a play about the different letters of the alphabet. Do math by measuring the straights and curves, or counting.
Follow-Up
Have students add to the alphabet wall/book by taking pictures of things that begin with the letters, or of friends.
