The class will be divided into groups of 2-3 students and each group will get a FlipCam. The group will determine who will be the recorder and who will be the speaker(s).

Next, as a class, we will take a school "shape search" inside and outside our school.

Each group will search for shapes such as circles, rectangles, squares, diamonds, triangles, hexagons, and octagons. For extension, I will see if any groups can accurately find rectangular prisms, cubes, spheres, and rectangular triangles.

When a group finds a shape on our walk inside and outside the school, they will stop, record the shape, and the speaker will determine and tell the camera what type of shape they found. We will upload the videos and show them on our T.V. during Math.

Students will keep tally marks of each group and the number of shapes they found. After each group has shared their video, students will count tally marks to see which group found the greatest amount of shapes on our school shape search!

If time allowed that week, I would take the students to a computer lab with their Flip Cams. I would teach them how to upload their video and add introductions, credits, and music to make a more exciting Flip Cam to integrate and involve more technology.
