Introduction to Fraction Frenzy

The entire class will begin by making a fractions book together. Each page will be a different fraction that we will introduce and discuss. (Fractions such as 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1 whole). We will cut shapes out and glue them on a seperate page and label them with their fraction. We will also find objects in the room/school that could be broken down into halves, thirds or fourths equally.

After each fraction has been taught and discussed, the teacher will then seperate students into groups of 4-5 students.

The only guidelines for the project are:
*The fractions book we created must be incorportated.
*You must teach the class what you have learned about fractions.
*Each group member MUST be in the video, flip cam stands will be used in order to make this possible.

Students will have 2-3 math periods to work on their project. Once it is completed, they will be uploaded to the computer and we will have 1 class period where we watch all videos and talk about the things we learned from their videos.


*This year while doing this, I had some AWESOME videos.
One was to the tune of "My Girl"...... "Fractions, We're talking about Fractions, FRACTIONS!
Another was Justin Beiber's "Baby" ..... "Fractions, Fractions, Fractions, OH"
And another was the Ghostbuster's...."When their something strange in your classroom, who you gonna call? Fraction Busters!!

Great way for the kids to show their imagination and what they learned all in one! They loved this project!
