We have a fourth grade class and teacher who are excited to skype with another class. The class is going to skype for three reasons. First, it allows them to use digital technology, and practice with video streaming. They will do more of this in future grades. Second, it allows them a creative way to present their information from a project. Third, it allows them to interact with a class from a different region. Students will need to have questions prepared for the other class. The associating class is found through epals. We used epals, because this is a good website to find classrooms in which to collaborate with. The first part of the lesson is to prepare the teacher in using skype, and setting up a skype account. Next, we need to find a classroom to collaborate with, and set up a time to do so. Third, a project which the students have worked upon needs to be finished, and ready to present. Fourth, students need to create questions for the other class. Finally, when everything is arranged, we skype with the corresponding class. |
