The students will take a math field trip. The field trip will take place in both the hallways and outside of the school(on the school grounds).

The objective will be to locate math in the real world and create original word problems that relate to the items discovered.

For example, a student may notice the tiles in the hallway remind them of measuring area. The student will solve for the area and then use the information collected to create an original problem based on the information gathered. The student will either photograph or video the object.

The information that is collected will be used to produce a class project. Students will utilize their information and create a blog on Glogster.edu. This will allow other students in the classroom to view and work the problems created by their classmates.

This lesson takes the students from paper and pencil to real world application of math concepts. Real world application allows students to create a deeper understanding of math concepts.
