School: Lincoln Charter School, Lincolnton, NC
Planned By: Sandra Richards
Original Author: Sandra Richards, Lincolnton
As we cover different topics about weather, students take turns making video recordings predicting the weather. For example, when we discuss clouds, the student forecaster of the day will make a prediction about whether or not it should rain and why they believe that based on cloud formations. Another student may make a similar recorded broad cast using barometric readings, or by analyzing weather maps. Videos will be shared through pod casting.
Comments
Children love to see themselves on the web and they love sharing what they know. They will be so eager to learn about weather when they know that they will make a pod cast to share with others.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Students will learn simple Drama and production concepts. They will be able to use a teleprompter program on my ipad, allowing them to write and edit their scripts, involving Language Arts. Students will learn about geography to help them with weather maps, integrating the project with Social Studies.
Follow-Up
The camcorder will also be used showing plant/tree classification, for creating and recording raps about the order of operations used in math.
