For a 50 minute class time
15 -20 minutes - Students are given a Geometry topic (whatever the section name might be or what is in the section) and they are to search through internet visiting at least 3 different websites. They are told to write down information about that topic such as definitions, rules, formulas, tables or steps. They need to verify the information with the other websites and make sure they picked out the important information. They will also need to record 3 examples per topic and 3 practice problems per topic. When the student writes their own information after finding it, they are more likely to retain it.

15 minutes - The teacher will then go through the curriculum notes that cover what the students should have found and make sure that the student's research matches. This will provide the students with know they have the correct information or allow them to make corrections to their information. (Most of the time the students get all the information needed. Be careful not to give too many topics.) Also, this frees the student to actually listen and watch teacher led examples. They have already taken the notes so the teacher just connects the information on paper to their brains. When the student finds the information and the teacher just connects the pathways, then the student is more likely to remember it.

10-15 minutes - The teacher will give the assignment and the students will use the McDougal Littel iPad Application for Geometry (or other subject) to get the practice. The Application is interactive and when students are in the "guided practice" section it allows the students to click on their current problem to see the notes over that type of problem or allows the students to watch a video of someone working through the problem. When the student sees different ways to understand the concept in addition to the research and the teacher, they are more likely to remember it.

The role of the teacher in this lesson is a coach, teacher, and facilitator.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This could be used for Mathematics in reasearching statistics in social sciences, history, and even other sciences. All they need is a topic or idea.
