Using the original letters of PFC Fred Sisk to his parents and his several histories of the 44th Infantry Division during WWII, we will research the exploits of the group which includes: 203 days of cambat, 44,000 prisoners of war taken, presidential ctations received, and more.
We will listen to the broadcasts of Edward R Murrow, as well as broadcasts of D-Day, the invasion of Poland, the bombing of Nagasaki, and the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Students will pick parts of the 44th story and write and record broadcasts (podcasts) on these events. These stories will specifically include information about the daily lives of the soldiers as told through letters of PFC Fred Sisk.
Students will fill out daily progress forms, sign contracts, and work through checklists as these products are created.
