Imagine having to read a sheet of paper everyday to prepare for the CST or for any other test. Are you falling asleep? Are you bored and thinking if its almost time for recess? I know I am. Let's make test prepping a lot more interesting.

Now Imagine this, students are in table groups of four. On Monday and Wednesday students will prepare for the math section of the CST. On Tuesday and Thursday students will prepare for the Language Arts section of the CST. Different types of questions, such as grammar, phonics, spelling, and comprehension questions will be the categories for the Jeopardy PowerPoint. The Jeopardy PowerPoint will be on the computer and which will be connected to the projector. The PowerPoint will then be projected onto the projector screen for the whole class to see. Table One will be the first group to pick a category and the total amount of points. For example, they would say "Grammar for one hundred points" I will then click on that category. The question will be projected. All students in their groups will discuss the correct answer quietly, making sure the other groups don't hear. One student from each group will write down the correct answer. I will give students 30 seconds to discuss and write the correct answer. When the timer goes off the person in each group that was in charge of writing the answer will hold the white board up. I will look around to see which teams have the correct answer and give each team that has the correct answer one hundred points. I will tell the class the correct answer. If I notice there are questions that a lot of groups are having trouble with, I will write it down and reteach that content on my next lesson. Next, Group 2 will choose a category and number off points and we will play the game again. Once we have answered all the questions on the Jeopardy PowerPoint. I will add up all the points and give the table or tables that had the most 1000 table points. My students get excited when they get table points.

My students are visual learners and love to work together. This lesson will have them engaged in the lesson, working with their peers, and they will never know that they are actually test prepping.
Comments
Students in elementary lose focus fast when the teacher does all the talking. This will have them doing all the talking and the teacher monitoring.
