Part 1:
First, we talk about what a person place and things are. Then we construct a KWL chart on the SmartBoard on nouns. Then I use a powerpoint to introduce the concept of nouns.

After I go through the powerpoint with my student I divide them into groups. Each group is given a digital camera to use. The groups will go around the school and take snapshots of different nouns. Students will be required to take pictures of people, places, and things.

Part 2:
When the pictures are developed each group of students will construct a noun chart. They will go through their pictures and create a chart to display the nouns that they found. Then each group will present their noun charts to the class. Rubrics will be used to score understanding, presentation, and accuracy.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This lesson plan can be extended into science, students can use the cameras to go on a hunt for organisms (nouns) and other science concepts (plant growth, seasons etc)
Follow-Up
Students can use the cameras to find singular and plural nouns and take pictures of actions (verbs)
