In January 2015, The Next Frontier Academy will be launching a fully accredited, 7-12 blended learning school. The mission of the project is to create a school that allows students to complete assignments online as well as meet with highly qualified teachers face-to-face to provide an exceptional environment for learning.
The school will be a free online school for students who want to complete their high school education at their own pace, without attending a regular school. Students will receive one-on-one support, flexible scheduling, and direct instruction from high qualified teachers to help them earn their Ohio High School Diploma.
The Next Frontier Academy online school is designed to fit the needs of the following students who want wish to get their high school diploma:
-Students unable to attend regular school -Students needing Credit Recovering help (charged a fee) -Working students -Pregnant students / Teen mothers -Students with disabilities -Students wanting to complete high school early -Students whose families are facing certain circumstances
What is Blended Learning?
Blended learning combines online with face-to-face learning. The goal of blended learning is to provide the most efficient and effective instruction experience by combining delivery modalities.

Blended learning allows students to learn subjects at the ideal pace, while giving educators the opportunity for more individualized instruction. Here are other benefits:

Odysseyware Software
The Next Frontier Academy will be using Odysseyware Software, an online curriculum provider for middle school and high school.
Odysseyware’s mission is to provide curriculum that prepares students for college and career readiness.
Correlated with state standards and based on proven educational research, Odysseyware courses for students in grades 3-12 raise the bar for Internet-based learning solutions. The curriculum includes courses in the core subject areas of history and geography, language arts, math, science, foreign language, as well as a variety of electives. Packed with compelling content, interactivity, and dynamic audio and video elements, Odysseyware engages students, empowers teachers, and inspires academic achievement to learn a stronger work ethic to sell to employers for a job.
All students will receive career counseling and job placement assistance in getting a job.
Say Yes to Work Program
While taking core classwork online, students at The Next Frontier Academy’s blended learning school will have opportunites to participate in a variety of workforce projects, especially in the agricultural industry. Students will get an opportunity to participate in the Say Yes to Work program, a course that teaches students the value of work ethic and prepares them to have a plan for a meaningful career. |
