My plan would first involve the purchase of 50 teacher laptops. Our teachers meet with their teams daily to create formative assessments and lesson plans. These meetings are frustrating because teachers attend the meetings without a laptop and their productivity is limited.
If teachers each had a laptop, they could collaborate on lesson plans, search online for resources, and connect with other teachers across the world when planning their lessons during their team meetings. Teachers would use the laptops in their classrooms for virtual field trips, skype lessons, and as a projection tool for the whiteboard lessons.
Teachers would have the flexibility to take the laptops home to continue their learning as they gain more confidence with the device. All this means teachers will begin implementing more technology embedded activities for students. |

Comments |
Our school is a competitive place to learn and work. Without teacher laptops, we're holding our teachers back and "settling" for the minimum. |
Cross-Curriculum Ideas |
Teachers can connect through Google Hangouts with other teachers at their grade level throughout our district to coordinate and share resources. |
Follow-Up |
Training will be provided to ensure teachers are comfortable using their devices. Weekly workshops will be available in a variety of areas that teach teachers how to use technology in the classroom and how to use it to become more productive in their work. (data collection, formative assessments, etc.) |
