Summary of Story: The Princess is locked in her tower by her over-protective father, The King. The King had The Guard trained from birth to protect his daughter at any cost without question. A Young Man wants desprately to be with The Princess, so even though he knew he would die- he attempted to rescue The Princess. The minute he stepped foot upon the bridge to the tower, The Guard killed him as instructed.

The Question at Hand: Who is RESPONSIBLE for The Young Man's Death?

Activity: The students will have spreadsheets on each character and have a debate blaming and/or defending each of the characters. Once a character is chosen by each of the students, a digital storybook will be created retracing the steps of each of the characters up until the death of The Young Man.

My students work from a portable classroom, so tablet would be helful with internal computer labs are not accessible.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
If Non-fiction pieces were incorporated, we could do storybooks with historical characters that link to American, British, and World Literature.
