School: Monroe Elementary School, Manitowoc, WI
Planned By: Lisa Rathsack
Original Author: Lisa Rathsack, Manitowoc
1) Students first gather information from home using a form that asks for information such as birthdate/weight/length/time. Also things such as their temperament as a baby, who they looked like, what they liked to eat and do and any other "funny or cute" things the parents can remember.
2) Students bring a picture of themselves as a baby.
3) Using the information their parents provided, the students write autobiographies.
4) Using an app called "talking faces" and the I-pad, students record their autobiographies into the I-pad.
5) The autobiographies are used to help with writing skills, students' reading fluency and are then shared with other students and finally e-mailed to parents.
Comments
The I-pads would be used for a multitude of reading, writing, and math projects.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
The I-pads would be used in all subject areas, using apps (interventions) for integrating the curriculum.
Materials: Whiteboards, Point and Shoot
Other Items: 25 i-pads, $220.00 each, total of $5500.00
