Historically when immigrant groups first came to the U.S. they often settled in segregated neighborhoods- there were different reasons for this. 1 Immigrants who did not speak English were more comfortable with people who spoke their language. 2. Immigrants received support and advice from more experienced neighbors. 3. Immigrants often found that they were unwelcome in other neighborhoods. What do you see?
