Objectives: TLWD understanding holocaust by, explaining the correlation between “Terrible Things” and the Holocaust.
Teacher Activity: Use the Holocaust PowerPoint to explain/highlight basic information about the genocide.
Student Activity: Record key concepts and ideas about the Holocaust. Explain the relationship between the Holocaust and “Terrible Things”
Materials: Holocaust PowerPoint, “Terrible Things,” and notes.
Homework: Study for vocabulary quiz
Evaluation: review students’ Holocaust notes and guide “Terrible Things” group discussions

Objectives: TLWD applying information on the Holocaust by examining pre-WWII Jewish religious, cultural and communal life in Europe through photographs from that time.
Teacher Activity: give student guidelines and instructions on the “Pre-WWII European Jewish Life Photo Project”
Student Activity: locate and examine pre-WWII Jewish religious, cultural and communal life in Europe through photographs from that time by using US Holocaust Memorial Museum website as main resource.
Materials: internet access, Pre-WWII European Jewish Life Photo Project guidelines and worksheet.
Homework: study vocabulary unit 6 (11-20)

Objectives: TLWD an analysis of the Holocaust by organizing the information discovered about the locales of photographs collected to discover different aspects of Jewish life before and after Nazi occupation.
Teacher Activity: Guide students’ research and monitor progress
Student Activity: organize the information you researched about the locales of photographs collected to discover different aspects of Jewish life before and after Nazi occupation.
Materials: internet access, project guidelines and worksheet.
Homework: study vocabulary unit 6 (11-20) and bring in a family photo that relates to the photos you used for Holocaust project.
