In explaining to my second grade class our opportunity to enter this Digital Wish contest for flip cameras, they became very motivated. They had some wonderful ideas and really want us to compete. We listen to a lot of music and have chosen a favorite to use in this lesson.
This lesson is called Fly Me to the Moon.
Frank Sinatra: Fly Me To The Moon Songwriters: Paul Francis Webster; Sonny Burke
Science: Space and Seasons Fine Arts: Music, Role-Play, Construction/Art Technology: Videography Social Studies:Geography, Culture
The children contribute scripting ideas for the Frank Sinatra song, Fly Me to the Moon centered around the themes of space, seasons, and friendship.
Some ideas for this video project may include an ‘earthling’ boy or girl visiting Jupiter or Mars where they meet an ‘alien’ of the opposite gender. They seem very different from one another but, do become friends.
Science: Discuss the changes occurring as springtime arrives here in Texas, include how springtime other places may be different; like on Jupiter or Mars.
Fine Arts:Creation of scenery for this video will be done largely by the students as will the scripting, costume designing, and
Technology: videoing, editing, and publishing.
There is opportunity for all children to participate in the creation and production of this video.
This lesson can be taken several different directions to suit curriculum needs. In our lesson we will focus on performance and production to utilize best the technology features. |
