Content Objective: Plants have internal and external structures that serve various functions in growth, survival, behavior, and reproduction.

Language Objective: Speaking and Listening Standard-Add visual displays to presentations when appropriate to enhance the development of main ideas and themes.

Engage: Show students pictures of different types of plants and initiate a conversation about where they think those plants can be found in the world, and if they have ever seen any of the plants before.

Explore: Take a nature walk around the campus and take photographs with digital cameras in pairs.

Explain: Students will share the photographs with their classmates and explain which plants appear to be thriving and which are struggling to survive. They will explain which factors are contributing to the plant's condition.

Elaborate: Students will conduct research on plants and try to find information on one of the plants they photographed. They will share their research in a two minute oral presentation with a board showcasing the digital pictures.

Evaluate: Students will be assessed based on a 4 point rubric.
