STUDENT ENGAGEMENT:
This lesson is going to happen over several days.  The first two days I will use technology, specially a device(laptop, iPad, tablet) for each student. There will be 6 questions that the students will be asking and answering.  For each question I will create a 3 slides.  One with the question and supporting visual, the next slide will be a copy of the first but with a sentence frame to help students construct an answer.  The third slide will have only the question and a fully modeled answer to the question that I have written.

I will use ClassFlow.  This will allow me to not only project a slide but to push the slide into the students devices.  There is really something magical about seeing what is projected right in front of you.

With ClassFlow, I have control of what student see.  I can quickly re-focus their attention to the whole group from their device by a click and back again.

INSTRUCTIONAL SEQUENCE

Opening: Students have already used ClassFlow for a prior lesson.  Question Pocket 2 will have them 2 or more reasons to support their claim, and to make a connection to their partners claim.   Students will log into devices and ClassFlow.

I DO, INSTRUCTIONAL & PRACTICE ROUTINES

Students will see the projected slide (will be repeated with each slide questions 1-6).  I will read the question and start orally thinking out loud about it.

I/WE DO INSTRUCTIONAL & PRACTICE ROUTINES

Students will then have the question pushed into their device. The will have time for processing the question and oral practice.
I  think that ________is the best pet because____________ and ______.

In my opinion ____ is the best because ____________ and ___________________________.

I DO INSTRUCTIONAL & PRACTICE ROUTINES

For the last question, 6,, after the students see the slide and practice.  I will use ClassFlow to push a blank slide to the students.  They will type or draw (depending on their level) their response to the question.
You Do Structured Independent
Students will submit their response to question 6 via ClassFlow.

WRAP-UP & REFLECTION

Students will view and reflect on the classes response to question 6..
