OBJECTIVE: Students will use all the keyboard techniques taught this year including, treble and bass clef notes, quarter, half, whole, and eighth note rhythms, and sharps and flats to compose their own song on the keyboard. The keyboard composition will reflect their ability level and interests. Then, students will create background loops on a computer program, Garage Band, to incorporate into their keyboard composition. Students will choose Garage Band loops to incorporate into their original keyboard composition based on their individual and personal learning level.
PROCEDURES: Song Requirements: Keyboard composition must include the following: -at least 80 beats in length -use a combination of whole, half, quarter, and eighth note rhythms -include at least 24 beats of notes in the bass clef -include sharps and/or flats, or high or low ledger line notes
Garage Band requirements: Loops must include the following: -at least 80 beats in length -at least 4 different loops -must be incorporated into your keyboard composition
Final step: When you are finished with your keyboard composition and your loop creation, you will connect your keyboard to your laptop computer using a USB cord. You will play your keyboard composition to record it into Garage Band. Then, you will move your keyboard composition into your loop creation in order to create your final composition!
