Driving question: How has manufacturing evolved through the years and what effects has that had on production?
Students will research the history of manufacturing. They will write at least a 1 page research paper (MLA format). They will document the evolution of manufacturing from pre-industrial age through today. They will list and discuss the 5 general steps of manufacturing (preparation, processing, assembly, finishing, & packaging). They will discuss the effects that the evolution of manufacturing has had on production. Students must have a minimum of 4 reliable sources (MLA format).
Students will choose an agriculture related item to research. They will trace it's development from raw material to finished product. They will trace the development of this product through the 5 steps of manufacturing. They will present this information in PowerPoint format (minimum of 10 slides) and include a minimum of 4 reliable sources.
Students will be graded by a rubric on the paper and the PPT presentation. |
