Project Idea: Group dissection of a sheep brain, using markers to locate regions of the brain. After successful dissection turn in a sheet with the locations found and their functions. Then they are to record a video of them explaining the areas of the brain Objective for lesson (at least one HOTS objective): Student will be able to: Virtually locate specific areas of the CNS DIssect and label a sheep brain Explain the function of specific areas of the CNS
Tool(s): Computer 4D anatomy program Sheep brain Dissection tools and label pins Paper and pen Video program
Teacher Directed Activities: Teacher will introduce 4D Anatomy (https://www.4danatomy.com/) website where students will see a virtual autopsy. Having a program like this will allow the student to do a virtual autopsy of the brain several times until they are comfortable. Teacher will direct them to the CNS region. Instructions are to autopsy the brain locating regions directed by the teacher.
Student Directed Activities: Using the 4D anatomy program the student should complete a virtual autopsy of the brain locating areas directed by the teacher. The student should continue to understand the functions of the areas. Students will also complete the online quiz through 4D Anatomy.
