1. Teacher demonstrates the EdCanvas.com website, showing students how to access the Causes of the American Revolution Canvas and look at the websites, videos and worksheet on the canvas.
2. Students work in partners on tablets to explore the Causes of the American Revolution Canvas and answer questions about the main causes of the American Revolution: The Sugar Act, The Stamp Act, The Boston Tea Party, The Townshend Acts, The Intolerable Acts, The Quartering Act, The Boston Massacre, and the Currancy Act.
3. After completing their exploration, students each pick one cause of the American Revolution they would like to research further.
4. In partners, students formulate questions about the cause they have chosen that will be critical to understanding the cause and it's relation to the start of the American Revolution.
5. The teacher shows the students how to create a google.docs using their student google accounts and create a document with the questions they formulated where they can record the answers as they find them and share this document with the teacher. By doing this, students will be able to continue working from home and collaborating with their partner.
5. Using tablets, students work with their parnter to research using the EdCanvas for the cause they have chosen. Students find and record the answers to their questions.
6. The teacher shows a variety of presentations from the internet including slideshows from slideshare.net, videos from youtube, and timelines from timetoast.com.
7. Using the tablets, students work with their partner to prepare a presentation for the class that presents the events of their cause using one of the formats from the presentations shown to the class. Students without internet access at home may borrow tablets and use WiFi at local establishments if possible in order to continue collaborating at home. Students who cannot get internet at home at all, will have first access to tablets in the classroom.
8. Partner groups will present their presentations to the class. |
