**Introduction/Anticipatory Set
Teacher will explain the concept of emotional appeal and how it relates to the advertising and digital world.

Teacher will then play Super Bowl commercials created by the same company over a three year span.

**Modeling/Guided Practice
Teacher will then have students analyze one commercial together for its use of emotional appeal and call to the public by using social media. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuAAXCOUH6Q (2013)

HIGHER LEVEL THINKING QUESTIONS:
How is the man portrayed in the first commercial? Positively? Negatively?

**Independent Practice
Students will then watch two more commercials from the following two years from the same company and notice the differences, similarities and how the company has progressed in its use of marketing techniques.

Does this change as the years go on?
Notice the 2014 man as the villain.. notice animals always being the heroes.. why do you feel that is?
How much of the man do we see in the second and third commercial? Why do you think his presence fades as the commercials progress?
Do you see the progression of the story and the mistakes being corrected as it goes on?
