Resizing Pictures Page Views: 422

1. Anticipatory Set > Focus/Transfer: Sometimes picture files are too large to work with, especially when sending them as email attachments. This is how you resize a picture or pictures in both Apple Macs and Windows. > Objective: Students will learn how to You will learn how to resize a picture file in both Mac and Windows. > Purpose: To comply with Computer Technology Standard # 8: Select and use the appropriate tools and technology resources to accomplish a variety of tasks and solve problems.
2. Instruction Apple’s Preview Program - To resize a picture in Apple’s Preview program, select one or more pictures* and click on Tools > Adjust Size (picture at right). Choose the size you wish to change them to (Small, Medium, Large, or Custom). Preview will show you its resulting size if you choose that option. If you wish to make a copy of the picture, save it with a different name. Otherwise, File > Save. Apple’s Preview has other capabilities: you can rotate a picture, crop it, adjust its colors, etc.
Windows Live Photo Gallery - To resize a picture in Windows Live Photo Gallery, select one or more pictures* and go to Edit > Resize. Choose the size you wish to change them to: Small, Medium, Large, or Custom. Windows Live Photo Gallery also has many capabilities. You can rotate a picture, crop it, adjust its colors, etc. Please Note: Windows Live Photo Gallery needs to import pictures before being able to open them. The good thing is, it does it automatically.
* To select multiple files, click their icons while holding down the Ctrl key (command key in Macs). You can also click on one picture, hold the Shift key and click another picture farther down to select that range of picture files.
