Students will begin with a warm-up where they will watch the CNN 10 News for that day. They will write down at least two things they learned and one question they have about one of the news stories. They will log on to Canvas where they will find a module for Georgia's Physical Features. They will begin by watching a video from GPB.org about Georgia's geography. They will then begin a virtual field trip for Georgia's Physical Features. Each of Georgia's five regions are represented on the virtual field trip, and students will be directed to participate in the interactive maps, videos, stories, and galleries while answering questions pertaining to the five regions. Once they are finished with the virtual field trip, the next component of the module is a Nearpod lesson on the five regions, plus the other physical features of the state. They will take notes from the lesson, as well as participate in the quizzes, polls, discussion boards, and games within it. When they are finished with the Nearpod lesson, they will get into groups to review what they've learned by playing the game Password. The rules and clues for the game will be on Canvas and they will take turns guessing the correct "password" pertaining to what they learned about Georgia's physical features and regions. The final part of the lesson will be a discussion on Canvas where they will comment about one place in Georgia they have visited (or would like to visit) and explain what region it is located in and some of the physical aspects of it as it relates to Georgia's geography.
