By the end of this lesson , SWBAT Label and demonstrate where the main keypad of their interactive Recon Rover are located, explain hoe to login into code.org, and turn on and give basic commands to the Recon Rover.
Objective: I can explain what the basic commands are for the Recon Rover and how robot can be used in daily life for members of my community.
EQ: How do professionals in law enforcement use robots to help them in their daily Life?
Activities: TW introduce video robots in everyday life TW ask students probing questions to see if they may have experience with robots in their life examples include roomba, alexa, 3D printer, etc. SW list as many types of robots as they can. TW explain that we will be exploring beginning coding and learning how to use the Rover Recon 6.0 TW explain the rules for using the Rovers, safety, and basic handling of the robots. SW first begin to look at their robot and start to notice how they turn on and how they work. |

This lesson is the beginning of a culminating unit in which the students will learn how to write basic computer programming code and code recon robots as well as create online games using code.org and following their online lesson plans. |

using members of the community call the local fire department, bomb squad, and SWAT team to see if they would be willing to come out and do a demonstration of various robots |
