School: Warm Springs Middle School, Berkeley Spgs, WV
Planned By: AMANDA HENRY
Original Author: AMANDA HENRY, Berkeley Spgs

1. Starting in January 8th grade students that have me for class will use the STEM-IT curriculum to learn to code and create programs to make articles on the screen behave in a given way.
2. March: As students work through the lessons, they will develop critical and problem solving skills for finding and fixing errors in their coding.
3. April: After completing the coding sections, students will progress into learning to use graphic design software, TinkerCad to create a given object. Students will learn to break down objects into basic shapes such as circles, squares, spheres, prisms and then place them together to create the given object.
4. May: Once student have mastered how to create a given object, they will be encouraged to scale down an original/unique object to make and print using the 3-D printer.
5. June: Students will reflect on their printed item, critique and repair any problems in their coding/programming
Students will also research and find careers/professions that will utilize the skills used in the curriculum.
6. Year two: I would like students to be able to sell original items to help fund the filament replacements as well as teach business skills.

Many steps will used to determine success.
1. Students will be assessed on the curriculum of STEM-IT. After completing that curriculum students will move on to Tinkercad.
2. Tinkercad.com has mini-lessons on breaking down and building up objects to create a 3-D printable object
3. Once students have completed the mini-lessons/tutorials students will attempt to design their original object
4. Students will print an original 3-D object
5. Students will assess and reflect on their original coding, design, and final object
6. Students will research professions of interest that use 3-D printing.
7. Students complete a small assignment explaining: reflection of STEM-IT, Tinkercad.com, their personal project, and which career/profession they found that they plan to investigate more in the future.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
