Ask students to create a simple template using your word processor that will include the type of information they need to gather while reading an online article. For example if they are doing an animal report what kind of facts do they need to collect- habitat, diet, physical characteristics, etc. Work with the class to guide them through this process. Creating the template is part of their learning. It is essential to be able to determine and discern the important type of information that is required to complete the task. Be sure there is a place where students will be able to document their source(website address) on the template. When a good template is created the students will understand what information they need to collect and have a good strong outline created to begin their report. When using windows you can right click on the area of the botton tool bar and choose two screens appear side by side. Having the article and the template open together allows the student to see exactly what information they need to find and efficiently move information into the template. |
