MY Kids TV

The project goal of MY Kids TV is to teach Researching, Reading, Writing, and public speaking skills to children, through the development of a children ’s TV show. Each year a group of children will be taught by teachers and Broadcast industry professionals how to research and develop their own ideas, and present it in story form on video. Through the My Kids TV program, children will learn every aspect of planning, developing and implementing their own News style television broadcast show.

The project goals of MY Kids TV are the following:

1. Promote reading, writing and Public speaking.
2. Serve as a public issues outlet for children.
3. Teach technical visual Arts to children.
4. Develop a mentor ship program with children.

MY Kids TV is intended to be a 5 year program that takes 10–15 children each year and teaches them the various aspects of developing their own TV program. Instructors, mentors, and counselors nurture the children 's academic and social growth as they research and develop topics that are relevant to their everyday life. This Program seeks to produce TV show each month for five years. Sponsorship advertising may be allowed for funding agencies, contributors and major donors of the program. MY Kids TV seeks to serve a public need and is intended to Air on the community’s Public Broadcast Station or commercial Television as part of the stations Community Affairs programming.


The program will measure the academic and technical proficiency of all participants. Each Child’s reading, writing, and comprehension skills will be measured and compared to the National Average for their grade level at the beginning of the program. The children will be evaluated again for improvement, upon completion of the program. Children will also gain the technical knowledge of developing a TV program, such as operating the cameras and other video equipment. The technical proficiency will be evaluated during the production of each show. The recorded media will then be compared to evaluate the progress of each child in the technical area.
